This is slightly unusual in that the lyric comes from a poem by Dom Conlon. My friend Viv Schwarz had illustrated a book of his poems (which is where the cover image comes from) and wanted some music for the online launch. Most of the stuff I did was instrumentals that ended up on the Trey Fontaine II album, but looking through the text this one leapt out as a possible song, and I knocked it together surprisingly quickly. Having done it I was given some confidence in the general concept of recording and releasing music, so it was a reason that the first Trey Fontaine album got done (and the impetus for finishing My Bumper Book of Lies over the summer).
