Virtually Acoustic @ Tinder Box

2005-11-14

The Tinderbox Coffee Shop

Upper Street
Islington
Another Tinderbox gig. I can sort of mark out my life in Tinderbox gigs.

They're relaxed but challenging. You don't have to bring huge crowds of people with you (or, indeed, anybody), but on the other hand the people who are there anyway may be less than sympathetic or embarrassed or oblivious to your existence, even as they stand directly in front of you having a conversation (this didn't happen tonight).

Dealing with that is always a useful challenge, though.

They now employ someone who can bring the dirty dishes crashing down with startling, and Motörhead-loud force.

Plaudits to David, Stephen and Charlotte from the VAC; Ben and Caz from Walker's (and Caz's husband Max), who, along with Haruko, made up the front row; two gentlemen to my left who were obviously into it, but didn't introduce themselves (perhaps I should have recognised them. I'm terrible at recognising); David who arrived two songs before the end; Phil and Haru 2 who arrived approximately three songs after the end.

I did lots of stuff: began with The Things You Get, ended with Iodine, played for about forty-five minutes.
